Yesterday, my better half (http://sewvintagesofun.blogspot.com ) and I spent the afternoon and into the early part of the evening visiting Annapolis, MD; a whole 15 minutes from our house in Severna Park. I don’t think we’ve gone into Annapolis more than three or four times in the past year; that’s a sin. That city is absolutely beautiful in itself.
The architecture alone is worth checking out; so we’ve decided to make regular weekend day jaunts into the city, each time to visit a different area or section of the town. This way by the end of the summer, we’ll have at least covered the major sites including Chick & Ruth’s restaurant. My son David keeps telling us to go there but we’ve yet to make it.
Anyway, what I did uncover, was there are a number a nice quiet parks and monuments that are a perfect venue to practice your guitar. I happened to bring along my Godin Multiac Nylon SA (Natural) so I took advantage of the peace and quite at the Monument of the American Prisoners of War off of route 450 near the NEW, US Naval Academy Bridge built in 1995.
We both found that spot perfect, exactly what we were looking for at the time of the day just after the USA vs. JAPAN soccer game. Yes, our girls lost the GOLD CUP to JAPAN but they played a fabulous game; they have no reason to be upset with themselves. And the win means so much to Japan in this time of recovery in that country.
I would recommend to everyone to take some time to spend outdoors while the weather is warm; find a secluded spot to relax and play your guitar, with or without a photographer to chronicle the moment!
On our next outing I am going to bring my {new to me} vintage Fender Stratocaster. I picked it up at the store today, complete with new strings, tuned up and ready to go. I can barely put it down! And I can’t wait to show it to you.
Have a wonderful evening, and don’t forget to give your kids a hug and kiss tonight. They are our most valuable assets, and hold our future in the palm of their hands. Until next time.
Bob
