Kim Karma . . .

Kim Karma 004

Kim Karma is a female rock influenced Blues Guitarist and vocalist who is based in the North West of England, she has vast experience of touring UK and Eastern Europe essentially as a session or guest guitarist. Kim’s varied musical career even includes being guest guitarist on various gigs with Beverly Callard’s band; well know as Liz MacDonald in the UK’s favourite soap, Coronation Street.

Kim's, influences include the late Gary Moore, Richie Blackmore, Peter Green, Albert Collins, to name but a few. ”There are many aspects to blues music and its rich cultural history from Robert Johnson and before, to BB King, Albert Collins and Stevie Ray Vaughan to the rock blues influences of Gary Moore; all of whom are instantly recognizable". All have influenced Kim’s style in some way or other over time.

Kim has recently assisted in the process in the production of a song she wrote, ‘Standing in the Light’ (of Love) and has adapted it for The Christie Hospital Manchester, which should be available in April to raise funds for the Young Oncology Unit. She mentions “I wrote the song as a story about lost love but realized that it could be adapted with changes to lyrics as symbol of hope for some seriously ill children many of whom will be singing on the recording’. The producer has also weaved his magic on the production to the extent that aside from the amended lyrics it bares no resemblance to the original. The song is currently in another recording process, performed by Kim with original lyrics and blues vibe and will be available on this site when completed.

Kim's Current equipment includes a Gibson Les Paul; a vintage antiqued classic, all mahogany. Kim also uses two Fender Stratocasters, a Gibson Advanced Jumbo which is a 1995 reissue of the 1936 model but even the reissues are no longer produced; on occasions she even plays a Rickenbacker 360/12.

Kim's stage amp is a 1979 Fender Twin Blackface, although she has previously used Marshalls but loves Fender so much that she sometimes uses a Fender Champ 600, 1953 reissue for recording. Another great little tube amplifier.

Kim is also currently in the studio working on a six song CD, a tribute to the mega talented Gary Moore, "a guitarist the likes of whom will never be seen again". The CD will be available from the website in late March and covers Kim's versions of songs that Gary played or recorded over his illustrious career.
